When sending English translation to French via email, the text in many cases becomes gobbly goo. Can you help

When translating English to French and then sending it via email from Canada to France, the text in many words becomes gobbly goo, like@ etc. Does anyone know why. On the email when I paste the translation, it looks perfect, but the recipient receives gobbly goo?|||Register the translation on Word - give it a name - then send it as attachment in your mail|||The same thing happened to me in Japanese. You need to download a language program for your computer to display the proper characters.
