French to English translation needed.?

What does this translate to in everyday english?

Faut-il chanter contre les mis猫res

Ou bien se taire, passer, ne rien faire

Please don't say use google translate because I have and feel like there is a better translation out there than that.

It is from the song Ici les Enfoir茅s by Les Enfoir茅s. Every translation I have seen so far neglects to translate these words.French to English translation needed.?
Should we rise up against the miseries

Or rather shut up, let it go, and do nothing?

"les mis猫res" can be translated differently depending on the context. From the song I think it means bad aspects of society in general, like the homeless having to beg on the streets or people who work hard but get paid barely enough to survive. Therefore I think "miseries" is the best translation in this case.

Hope this helps.
I think it really means, "Do we turn a blind eye (or look the other way) to the misfortune that is, misery, social injustices and poverty) that surrounds us." Literal translations already have been provided. In other words, it asks whether we should help others.

In this case, "chanter" means "to resound".

"Should one resound against misery
Or else keep silent, pass by, do nothing?"French to English translation needed.?
is it necessary to speak out against poverty
or is it better to keep quiet, walk past, not do anything.

chanter literally means to sing but I think they used it because the words were part of a song.French to English translation needed.?
Should we sing out loud all human miseries ?

Or, go on quietly with our lives and do nothing

A translation with added meaning
Should we sing against the misery 'res

Or shut up, go, do nothing
