These sentences are from a French art song that I have to sing for my French diction class for my music classes. I tried using a dictionary, but some words I couldn't find. Here are the sentences I am having trouble understanding:
--La Violette se cueille au prin temps
--Cette fleurette Pass en peu de temps
--Dans le belage Prenez un ami
--S'il est volage, Rendezle lui|||La violette se cueille au printemps
Violet is picked in spring
Cette fleurette passe en peu de temps
This little love dies quickly
Dans le bel 芒ge prenez un ami
In your later years take a friend
s'il est volage rendez le lui
If he sleeps with others do the same (in French give it back to him)
LOL Sounds like an old song (Middle Age or Renaissance) Is that the whole song? I tried googling for it but couldn't find it. Do you have the music?|||The Violet gathers itself to the prin time
-- This little flower Step in little time
-- In the belage Take a friend
-- If it is flighty, Rendezle him
if you need more help some translating sites (free)
http://www.freetranslation.com/ (best - my opinion only )
http://translation2.paralink.com/ ( fine )
http://www.google.com/language_tools?hl=鈥?/a> (not very reliable )|||1. The Violet gathers itself to the prin time
2.This little flower Step in little time
3. In the belage Take a friend
4.If it is flighty, Rendezle him
Hope this helps!|||http://www.worldlingo.com/en/products_se鈥?/a>
Give this a try. . . . its free!|||babelfish.com|||Only Cabal above got it right.
For "s'il est volage" I would rather say " if he's unfaithful".
"Ami" does mean "friend" but in this context should be understood as "lover".|||The Violet gathers itself to the spring
This little flower Step takes a little step
the (belage?) takes a friend
compromise|||--La Violette se cueille au prin temps ( printemps
Violet was picked in spring
--Cette fleurette Pass en peu de temps ( ??? Don't means asything in french )
--Dans le belage Prenez un ami ( same )
in ...? Take a friend
--S'il est volage, Rendezle lui ( again )
FOR A FRENCH/ENGLISH TRADUCTION DON'T USE A TRANSLATOR IS VERY BAD !
